Job Overview

As the Planning Manager, you will direct, manage, and supervise in-house Airport Planning staff and oversee management of consultant planning studies and represent the airport on planning related matters.  Under general direction of the Planning VP or designee, directs or participates in all aspects of long-range and short-range airport facility development planning. Work involves independent, as-well as facilitating group, application of airport planning principles, analysis and strategic decision-making to develop, refine and implement elements of the Airport Master Plan. 

What you will be doing:

•    Manage the development of the Airport Master Plan and the Airport Layout Plan that encompasses airside, landside and terminal development, ground access, environmental compliance and land use and monitors off-airport development trends.

•    Manage special projects related to the airport, the aviation industry, and intergovernmental affairs.

•    Participate in the selection, training, and evaluation of staff to ensure operational efficiency.

•    Direct the preparation of short- and long-term planning studies to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of technical work and the soundness of principles used in planning projects.

What you need:

•     Bachelor's degree in planning, engineering or a related field.

•     Seven (7) years professional-level experience in planning, infrastructure project management, design, engineering, or development.

•     Five (5) years of project management or leadership position.

•     Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

•     Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

What we desire:

•     Knowledge of federal laws and regulations relating to airport planning and development.

•     Knowledge of airport and aviation planning and design principles and standards.

•     Master’s degree in business administration, aviation planning, transportation planning, transportation engineering or related field.

•     Professional certifications such as American Institute of Certified Planners or Accredited Airport Executive.

•     Experience in estimating.

•     Experience in managing project budget and schedule.
