Job Overview

The Construction inspector implements the development of airport facilities projects to support the airport's strategic growth and business plan.  You will be responsible for coordinating the activities of contractors, tenants, terminal managers and code enforcement for compliance with contract documents.  Ensure contractors implement and maintain a quality control plan and support projects by inspecting and ensuring quality of the work.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensures contractors implement and follow a quality control plan, construction plans and specifications. Confers with Supervisor on policies, programs and activities related to inspections, plan review and code compliance associated with the utility design, construction and modification of facilities on Airport property.
  • Ensures DFW safety and environmental policies are followed by contractors. Identify non-complying construction deficiencies during on-site inspections. Coordinates and schedules construction activities, inspections and testing with contractors, tenants, customers, owners and other stake holders.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the oversight of the construction activities including maintaining the RFI log, submittal log, transmittal log, schedule and photographic documentation.
  • Uses computer-based construction management software (e.g. Skire).
  • Ensures project data and information is entered in the departments documenting software and updated as required to provide information to field personnel.
  • Conduct plan review and analysis of construction drawings and specifications.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction technology or construction management.
  • Three (3) years of experience in general construction of civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

 

What we desire:

  • Administrative, management or similar experience.
  • Experience overseeing contractors and/or consultants.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
