Qualifications
Job Overview
Under general supervision of the General/ARFF Equipment Supervisor, maintains, repairs and replaces tires for a wide variety of automotive equipment. Services vehicles and performs general automotive maintenance.
What you will be doing:
1. Repairs and replaces tires on fleet of automobiles, trucks and buses.
2. Maintains accurate tire inventory and maintenance records.
3. Cleans front wheel bearings and repacks with grease; inspects and replaces worn bearings and seals.
4. Bleeds brake system and checks drums, rotors, pads and linings for wear and condition; may replace pads and lining.
5. Visually inspects steering system, universal joints, shocks, hoses, belts and wiring for defects, missing parts and loose connections; replaces faulty components and makes minor repairs.
6. Checks reservoirs under hood; raises fluid levels if required.
7. Makes service calls on airport property.
8. Records problems of a more serious nature for Automotive Technicians to inspect and resolve.
9. Road tests vehicles to ensure that problems have been corrected.
10. Maintains tire repair area of shop.
11. May pick up and deliver tires and parts.
