Job Overview

Under general supervision of the Survey Manager, uses manual and automated land survey, drafting and graphics systems to compile survey data and prepare boundary surveys, topographic surveys, maps, and exhibits in support of professional and technical staff. Centralizes storage of current survey information and provides a medium to make this available to Airport staff and contractors.  

 

What you will be doing:

  • Analyzes and reviews data gathered by field survey parties to ensure accuracy and completeness of survey information.
  • Uses survey data to generate coordinate files used to calculate boundary lines, right-of-way, topographical features, and metes and bounds descriptions.
  • Assists Land Surveyor in calculating, researching, and analyzing properties to write legal descriptions used in describing land conveyance, leases, and easements.
  • Compares relevant as-built data to construction plans and surveys to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares accurate working sketches from survey field data, record information and legal documents.
  • Uses Survey software such as Inroads Survey, Carlson Survey, and Leica Geosystems for conversion of field data into CADD file format.
  • Uses CADD/CAM systems, PC-based software and manual drafting techniques to prepare detailed survey maps or plats.
  • Researches and procures record information and maps for boundary analysis.
  • Collects, compiles, and processes raw survey field data.
  • Maintains automated and manual files and records in a readily accessible system.

 

What you need:

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of land survey experience, OR
  • Two (2) years of CADD/CAM experience.
  • Possession of a valid class C driver's license.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Knowledge of major construction methods, materials, equipment and contractual requirements of public works construction projects.
  • Knowledge of national, state, and local zoning ordinances, codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of modern cost and scheduling control techniques and ability to apply same in the management of major construction projects.
  • Knowledge of competitive bidding processes.
  • Ability to manage outside contractors in a manner conducive to the timely and efficient completion of work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to influence outside contractors to comply with Airport Board rules, regulations and procedures relating to airport construction projects.

 

What we desire:

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge
  • (Badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security
  • Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part
  • 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of
  • Employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and
  • Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be
  • Required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a
  • Random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
