Job Overview
The role of Enterprise Data Governance Manager will be responsible for administering an enterprise-wide data democratization & governance framework called Data 360. This role will drive business value, develop, and promote a culture of data-drive decision making, break down data and information silos, improve data quality, and protect data. The incumbent will work directly with DFW executives, business units & the Governance Council to promote data self-service, advance data analytics, and promote data literacy & ethics.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and promote a data governance culture throughout the organization and help manage data as an asset, minimize data risk; effectively motivate people, promote accountability.
- Serve as the solution architect for the Data 360 Program; assist in development of data tool strategy, requirements, usage, and cohesiveness.
- Serve as Enterprise Data 360 Program liaison to Executive Steering, Governance Council, ITS, Data Management, Legal, Data Stewards, Business unit leadership & Software vendors. Communicate the business value of data governance along with monthly Program updates to the Data Governance Council and Executive steering.
- Lead strategy development, implementation, and administration of enterprise data policies, procedures, and standards which will evolve with the enterprise data strategy
- Educate & evangelize industry best practices around data democratization across DFW
- Lead cross-functional data development and data stewardship teams (dotted-line matrix structure).
- Curate & administer DFW’s data marketplace, and lead metadata management initiatives for both technical and business metadata.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, related fields of study
- Five (5) years’ experience of building & establishing data governance practices in a large scale financial, municipal, or similar complex & regulatory organization or related experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
What we desire:
- Experience leading large-scale programs in a government industry or similar, ensuring initiatives are tracked, managed, and communicated effectively with stakeholders and customer
- Documented technical and analytical skills; ability to communicate across the organization and manage multiple releases/priorities
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, experience implementing data modeling techniques, & familiarity with industry best practices for data security; Information Technology background or work experience preferred
- Knowledge of master data management, reference data management, data quality management, data integration
- Experience/working knowledge of Informatica Governance Suite, Tableau, Tableau Prep, & TOAD Data Point, R, Python, SAS, SPSS
- Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills, capable of expressing complex concepts in easy-to-understand way
- Ability to bridge the communication gap by translating technical understanding into Business understanding and visa-versa, to translate between technical speak and business speak
