Job Overview
As the Cargo Business Development Manager, you will support the roll-out and implementation of key strategic cargo initiatives and provide on-going support and communication to the greater cargo community. You will also manage the digitization of DFW’s cargo business via the implementation of the DFW Cargo Cloud data-sharing platform as well as perform data analysis for the department. Under the general direction of the Sr. Cargo Business Development Manager, this role will lead the implementation of various cargo initiatives including DFW’s Cargo Cloud initiative and other marketing related Cargo Community outreach initiatives
What you will be doing:
- Manage the increased adoption of DFW Cargo Cloud through business development initiatives encouraging customers to participate in the program.
- Work with cargo handlers, freight forwarders, truckers and airlines to implement processes and training to support DFW Cargo Cloud capabilities.
- Manage relationships with various freight forwarders, cargo handlers, airlines, customs brokers on operational and procedural changes to improve process efficiency.
- Conduct regular meetings with key cargo community stake holders regarding forward thinking initiatives in the community.
- Manage relationship with DFW Cargo Cloud software provider to manage new releases, roadmaps, & implementations.
- Interact regularly with Freight Forwarding Community, Cargo Handlers, and Cargo Airlines and final mile delivery companies to obtain company and market intel and feedback.
What you need:
- (5) five years previous experience with Cargo Operations and the cargo supply chain.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Desirable:
- Understanding of IT implementation projects or project management is a plus.
- Familiarization of Cargo Electronic Communication Interfaces is a plus.
- Ability to speak a second language is a plus.
- Strong leadership qualities, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to speak professionally in front of groups.
- Recent, relevant experience in cargo airline operations, freight forwarder processes, and cargo handling operations
- Strong facilitation in interpersonal skill-related courses as well as management and leadership disciplines.
- Knowledge of forecasting, data manipulation, & analytics.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Knowledge of cargo data and cargo flows.
- Ability to create and distribute informational updates to the cargo community.
