Job Overview
The Airport Concessions Manager role is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to advance their career in the aviation industry. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Assistant Vice President, Concessions, to develop and implement new strategies to expand Airport Concession opportunities in consumer services such as food and beverage, retail, advertising, vending, telecommunications, and other passenger service-related businesses or services including rental cars and convenience stores. What you will be doing:
Acts as the Board liaison in the negotiation and execution of concession leases, permits, and business agreements with tenants, concessionaires, and other service providers to ensure compliance, and works with other Airport departments to develop contractual language, such as Legal, Risk Management and Business Diversity Development.
Coordinates and collaborates with numerous stakeholders including concession owners, partners, airlines, suppliers, the Tarrant County Health Department, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, third-party agencies, and various departments throughout the Airport environment to ensure highest standards of food & beverage concessions operations.
Analyzes trends in the marketplace and works with airport concessions tenants to determine financial/market position and makes recommendations to ensure their continued success; reports conclusions from the review to the Assistant Vice President for use in formulating a long-term business strategy to maximize non-aviation revenue.
Maintains positive business relations between the Board, Board departments, Airlines, local government agencies, and providers of services at the airport and acts as ombudsman to address tenant/concessionaire concerns.
Conducts periodic business reviews and presents briefs to concessionaires about their business through one-on-one business meetings and oral presentations at concessionaire forums and events.
Administers concessions customer service and employee engagement initiatives, such as customer mystery shops, recognition, and employee rewards.
Makes recommendations and approves menu pricing, merchandising and product assortment in new and existing locations.
Acts as liaison between concessionaires, airline personnel and airport personnel on decisions for retail and food & beverage locations, marketing efforts and maintenance.
Conducts analysis and provides recommendations on sales trends in the retail and food & beverage industries that have potential in an airport environment.
Selects, trains, supervises, leads, motivates, and evaluates personnel.
Other related duties as assigned.
What you need:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, retail management, hospitality, or a related field.
Five (5) or more years' experience in one of the following fields:
Retail Management
Food and Beverage Management
Concession Management
Advertising/Sponsorship
Hotel Operations
Airport Administration/Management
Mall Management
Two (2) years supervisory experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
Must obtain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
What we desire:
Knowledge of retail and food & beverage marketing, advertising, management and administration, food service sanitation, telecommunications industry, and/or the principles of concession management.
Knowledge of advertising and sponsorship industry trends and multiple media opportunities and their effect on concession sales.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain financial reports, balance sheets, legal documents, rules and regulations.
Ability to understand political sensitivities of statistical information and share information in a manner that maintains positive business relations between the Board and stakeholders.
Ability to analyze and make recommendations in the area of concessions.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken English at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Ability to maintain effective and harmonious internal and external working relationships and optimize resources available.
Ability to prepare and present clear and concise oral and written reports.
Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise the work of others.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
Ability to display diplomacy and political savvy when dealing with the Airport Board, Concessionaires, other Airports and other departments within the Airport.
