Job Overview
You will collaborate closely with Leadership, Program Managers, and the overall team as a key member overseeing a diverse range of projects related to airport proposals as the Environmental NEPA Project Manager. From coordinating with various stakeholders in a timely manner to formulating recommendations/solutions for environmental concerns, your expertise will shape the future of airport activities and contribute to our commitment to sustainable and environmental initiatives. Be at the forefront of projects to lead and be a part of a team, engage with government agencies and industry partners, as you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of crucial environmental NEPA related projects at DFW Airport. Within your capabilities for keen attention to detail and knowledge of NEPA documentation, it will be instrumental in driving successful project outcomes and to ensure the quality and compliance of project deliverables via your research/data reporting and technical writing. As a point of contact for contractors, consultants, and various entities (directly with airlines, airport tenants, FAA, city, state and federal agencies and other public agencies), you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your excellent communication coordination skills.
What you will be doing:
- Reviews of technical studies prepared by consultants such as those addressing biological resources, Waters of the U.S. Delineation, cultural resources, Phase I ESAs, air quality, noise, and hydrology.
- Prepares NEPA Documentation (CATEX, EAs) for multiple project types including airfield, utility, transportation, and commercial developments.
- Receives, coordinates and implements the management of environmental and/or development projects as assigned by the respective Airport Environmental Affairs Department (EAD) Program Manager.
- Oversees internal staff and other consultants in the planning, proactive needs analysis, management and scheduling of projects in accordance with airport and environmental affairs design criteria and codes and reports any concerns/issues to the Program Manager; drives in Airfield Operations Area (AOA) and accesses all forms of construction in progress.
- Assists in development of contractual scopes of work, contractual provisions, Official Board Actions and other documentation necessary for procurement process related to retaining consultants and contractors. Within the area of responsibility, serves as the airport contact for contractors and consultants; provides quality assurance/quality control function for work of contractors and consultants.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of NEPA, including staying up to date on case law and providing support on complex projects; works with the Program Manager to develop programs and procedures consistent with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Works with other departments affected by environmental requirements to ensure their understanding of and compliance with such requirements.
- Works primarily in an office environment; frequently making site visits. Occasionally works outdoors in inclement weather.
- Drives to locations on and off Airport property, including driving in the Airfield Operations Area and accessing all forms of construction in progress.
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree in physical or life sciences, environmental science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Four (4) years of professional experience in environmental consulting, environmental operations, environmental analysis or environmental program administration.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
