Job Overview

Under general direction of the Planning Manager, participates in short- and long-term planning projects addressing airport development, airfield infrastructure and land use needs. Participates in and supports airfield related projects, prepares conceptual and functional plans to support various planning topics.  Will be required to apply Airport Planning principles to analyze and recommend airfield improvements, operational/capacity improvements, capital planning updates, and aviation facility development. Responsible to provide documentation and graphics support, as required, for the administration and execution of each project (i.e. CAD Layouts, Airfield exhibits, CIP funding documents, Official Board Actions, Work Authorizations, reports, presentations, etc.).  Supports the organization in cross functional collaboration on projects.

What you will be doing:

  • Conducts project feasibility studies, develops conceptual plans and layouts, evaluates alternatives and prepares cost estimates for airport and airline infrastructure and related facilities.
  • Reviews of airport development projects compared with FAA, TxDOT, and NCTCOG guidelines and Airport design standards
  • Supports department in executing planning studies.
  • Works with consultants conducting short- and long-range airport planning studies; develops study design and schedule; supervises and monitors study progress.
  • Responds to telephone and written inquiries from other departments, developers, tenants, special interest groups and the public regarding planning projects.
  • Draft submittals, letters, position papers and reports related to planning projects.
  • Ensures environmental aspects and impacts within the span of control of your position are identified and timely communicate applicable personnel and operational changes to Environmental Affairs.
  • Ability to produce exhibits, drawings, and document support in AutoCAD or AviPLAN for planning analysis.

What you need:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Business Aviation Administration, Aviation Planning, Planning, Transportation planning, or a related field.
  •  One (1) year of experience in airport planning and development and/or project management.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
