Job Overview

As the Assistant Vice President of Technology Security, you will ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of DFW's information, data assets and IT services as well as protecting them against unauthorized access, modification, disclosure and destruction.  You will also lead a team in functions of program management, architecture and analysis, security engineering and monitoring. Under general direction of the Vice President of Information Technology Services (ITS), you will establish and maintain an enterprise-wide vision, strategy, architecture and programs, ensuring the information assets are appropriately protected and the airport maintains ongoing compliance with privacy and security regulations.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement information security standards and procedures and provide information on security policies and practices to employees, including training.
  • Collaborate with key personnel to develop and implement the disaster/business continuity, physical security, and backup and recovery plans for information systems.  Test and revise plans, as necessary, to ensure data integrity, confidentiality and availability.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with information security policies and regulatory requirements among employees, contractors and other third parties by:
    • Reviewing network and application logs for access violations,
    • Monitoring security access and internal control systems to ensure that appropriate information access levels (e.g. segregation of duties) are maintained,
    • Reviewing security settings for Airport systems to ensure that they are properly configured,
    • Reviewing for security breaches, taking appropriate action to minimize harm, investigating breaches, and making recommendations to management for corrective action, coordinating with law enforcement, if necessary,
    • Reviewing the security features of existing and new computing systems to ensure that they meet the Airport¿s security needs and the security requirements in existing policies.
  • Review proposed new systems during the proposal process, the contracting process and during implementation to ensure that proper security and business continuity provisions are in place (includes application systems, wireless, Internet, network, Virtual Private Network, firewalls, etc.).
  • Perform risk analyses and threat assessments for information systems, as they relate to security, privacy and business continuity issues.
  • Identify key security initiatives and standards (virus protection, security monitoring, intrusion detection, access control to facilities and remote access policies). 
  • Revise the security program, as necessary, to comply with changes in laws and regulations and as necessary, because of changes in business operations and the overall security climate.

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business or public administration, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in technology security.
  • Five (5) years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

What we desire:

  • Retail, transportation, financial services, utility or other high transaction industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the various industry and government strategies and standards in privacy and security, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and others where applicable.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or similar.
  • Master's or other advanced degree.
