Qualifications

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for Developing Employee Relations processes, standards, and analytics; handles complex employee relations cases and guides team in day-to-day employee relations activities. Ensures fairness and consistency, serves as a neutral party when handling employee concerns, interprets and applies Airport policies, in providing guidance to managers with their employee relations issues.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Manages DFW's Employee Relations function including the supervision and training of Employee Relations Specialists to ensure the ER function is meeting established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Consults with managers at all levels to develop strategies for proactive employee relations initiatives as well as effectively managing reactive employee relations situations.
  • Manages and develops employee relations processes related to the oversight of complaints procedures, policy violations, appeal hearings, unemployment hearings, involuntary terminations of employment, and responses to charges from governmental and regulatory agencies such as the EEOC.
  • Analyzes, compiles, and presents information and statistics regarding analytics, metrics and reports regarding employee relations issues to senior management.
  • Reviews employee relations case load and assigns cases to team; assists and trains team members on cases, as necessary.
  • Conducts investigations on complex, high-exposure cases.
  • Provides managers and supervisors with interpretation and guidance regarding HR policies, legal and compliance matters to ensure fair and consistent application. Counsels and advises on the application of specific employment laws including federal and state employment laws.
  • Advises supervisors regarding corrective action issues and prepares employee relations documents to include performance improvement plans and correspondence related to investigations and corrective action.
  • Serves as the lead Employee Relations representative responsible for cases involving employee leaves of absence (i.e. FML, STD, Workers Compensation, etc.)  and reasonable accommodation requests.
  • Counsel managers and supervisors to identify and resolve employee issues and improve workforce performance and effectiveness.

 

What you need:

     

What we desire:

  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Master's degree in human resources management or law degree
  • Experience as an HR Business Partner supporting large and diverse client groups.
  • Experience with administering and/or managing employee leave of absence under Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), administering short-term disability and/or reviewing requests for reasonable accommodation.       

     

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. Al. and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
