Job Overview:
The Strategic Programs Manager performs and manages advanced-level financial and business analysis of operational business units for specific operational departments on a project and recurring basis. Work includes modeling complex scenarios to complete business objectives directed by the Vice President of Finance or Chief Financial Officer. Work may include participation in financial analysis, operational analysis, business process improvement, cost-benefit analysis of capital projects, activity-based costing implementation, development of Key Performance Indicators for operational business units, implementation of Balanced Scorecard techniques, and assistance with Strategic Planning projects. Analyses budgeted debt service for annual budget process and outlooks.
What you will be doing:
- Manages and develops business unit profit and loss analysis and makes recommendations for efficient financial processes.
- Analyzes, research, and documents existing revenue and expense structure, as well as makes recommendations for reclassification and improvement.
- Acts as an internal consultant by providing direct analytical assistance between Finance and operation units on various ad-hoc business matters, including valuation of projects or investments under consideration by management.
- Identifies the type, source, and format of data needed to assess and evaluate Finance Division initiatives, including long-range strategic plans.
- Manages and coordinates strategic program initiatives through the collection, verification, and analysis of financial and operational data to support various project initiatives, such as benchmarking various types of activities and services, evaluation/cost justifications of proposed capital projects and other special projects.
- Prepares and/or reviews complex modeling scenarios that includes long term capital plans, debt forecasts, operating results to evaluate strategic goals of the organization. This may include preparing financial plan for multiple years. Will include Days Cash on Hand, CPE, and other data.
- Incorporate future bond sales and retirement of callable bonds into modeling.
- Develops and/or coordinates various communications/presentations targeted at Board-wide audiences, Board of Directors, and various other external audiences.
