Job Overview
DFW Airport is seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in overseeing the development of airport facilities to support strategic growth and ensure compliance with all airport standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection and management, with the ability to coordinate with contractors, tenants, and code enforcement officials to ensure high-quality construction outcomes.
What you will be doing:
- Perform on-site inspections to verify that all construction activities comply with the DFW Design Criteria Manual, industry standards, and airport-adopted codes.
- Ensure contractors implement and follow a quality control plan, ensuring compliance with construction plans, specifications, and safety/environmental policies.
- Monitor, verify, and oversee all material testing activities, including the commissioning process.
- Identify non-complying construction deficiencies during inspections and ensure they are addressed.
- Coordinate construction activities, inspections, and testing with contractors, tenants, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Assist the Project Manager by maintaining the RFI log, submittal log, transmittal log, schedule, and photographic documentation.
- Verify the accuracy of As-Built information to ensure precise project records.
- Conduct thorough reviews of construction drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Use computer-based construction management software (e.g., Skire) for documentation and communication.
- Provide AOA (Air Operations Area) coordination and escort services when needed.
- Ensure that project data is accurately entered and updated in the department's documentation software.
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction technology, or construction management.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in general construction, specifically related to civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
