Job Overview

Safe and Secure is the foundation of the strategic plan. It is fundamental to everything we do at DFW Airport. As a Senior Security Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of more than 230 security professionals and working to keep the DFW Airport passengers safe and secure. You’ll have the opportunity to work to lead changes to improve the employee engagement, operational excellence, business performance, community engagement and customer experience.

What you will be doing:

•     Leading and developing the strategy and direction of a comprehensive airport security program for DFW Airport Board by developing and implementing the Airport’s comprehensive and innovative airport security program to include security policies, procedures, programs, training, research, compliance, and innovation.

•     Developing and overseeing the business plan to ensure the most effective and cost-efficient method of maintaining a Department of Public Safety (DPS) civilian security officer (CSO) program.

•     Managing an internal staff of over 230 professional security personnel; participating in the personnel/promotional selection, i.e. interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating subordinate personnel performance; overseeing training programs, ensuring security personnel are adhering to and enforcing all established standard-operating-procedures (SOPs) and security policies.

•     Ensuring compliance with CFR 1542 and the Airport Security Plan/Program (ASP) to include maintenance of and oversight of this program for the DFW Airport community.

•     Creating and implementing airport security standard operating procedures (SOPs)/manuals for effective day-to-day operations.

•     Participating in airport stakeholder meetings to include construction personnel, contractors, tenant airlines, and governmental agencies for security liaison purposes.

•     Reviewing facility conditions and analyzing surveillance equipment needs for all field operations and making recommendations to Airport staff regarding necessary security improvements, then directing the installation/maintenance of equipment by coordinating with appropriate departments to ensure effective operation.

•     Taking an active role in budget-related activities to include proposing recommendations to the Assistant Vice President, Special Services, preparing analytical justifications for annual requests, forecasting, industry benchmarking, and prudently managing the approved fiscal year budget; developing detailed, professional-level reports and presentation as required.

What you need:

•     Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Homeland Security or related field.

•     Five (5) years management level experience in law enforcement, security, or related field.

•     Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.

•     Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

•     Knowledge of modern airport security principles, practices, techniques, methods, and equipment.

•     Knowledge of the functions of other governmental agencies as they relate to security and public safety services.

•     Skilled in managing crisis situations.

•     Ability to establish and maintain collaborative, effective working relationships with subordinates, Board officials, public officials, and the general public.
