Job Overview

As the Assistant Vice President of Environmental Programs, you will strategically plan, monitor, schedule, and coordinate Airport activities to manage and minimize DFW Board and Executive Management environmental liability, promote best practices and align with airport policies, regulatory, and long-term sustainability goals. You will be empowered to perform job duties with considerable latitude for developing work methods and procedures within established policy.Under general direction of the Vice President of Environmental Affairs, you will implement comprehensive core and specialized environmental programs, manage department processes and personnel to ensure that Airport activities are compliant with environmental laws and regulations

What you will be doing:

•     Attend and actively participate in pre-bid, pre-agenda, and pre-construction meetings to partner and proactively address environmental impact issues, collaboratively review and approve contract provisions for projects generating potential environmental impacts.

•     Oversee and approve the preparation of environmental permit applications fromfederal and state regulatory agencies, requests for state and federal funding for environmental programs, and negotiations for settlements arising from environmental incidents with state and Federal Administering Agencies.

•     Provide effective leadership, engagement, best practices management, and timely communication to proactively partner and address environmental concerns of airport tenants, contractors, and other departments with a positive focus on planning, incident prevention, following guidelines, performance, and partnering for successful outcomes rather than compliance alone.

•     Evaluate core and specialized compliance program effectiveness and relevance; recommend and manage change effectively to increase efficiency and effectiveness promptly.

•     Plan, manage, and direct environmental emergency response during emergencies, drills, and training in coordination with DFW Operations Division Department of Public Safety and IOC/EOC programs.

•     Monitors advise VP and obtain regulatory compliance determinations from designated agencies supporting DFW’s capital project development program, sustainability goals, and environmental compliance requirements.

What you need:

•     Bachelor’s degree in environmental/aviation sciences, life sciences, or a related field.

•     Ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in environmental program management.

•     Five (5) years of management experience.

•     Minimum 2 years managing P&L budgets and financial forecasting experience.

•     Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above on a year-for-year basis.

•     Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.

What we desire:

•     Master’s degree in environmental or related engineering discipline, physical/life sciences, or other aviation-related discipline.

•     Knowledge of the practical application of systems thinking and working with complex and diverse stakeholders.

•     Knowledge of environmental system design, implementation, and training methodologies.

•     In-depth knowledge of the aviation industry and the laws, rules, and regulations governing air transportation and related community impacts.

•     Customer-centric mindset that is solutions-oriented.
