Job Overview

As an Industrial Electrician I you are part of an essential team ensuring that the electrical systems and equipment within the utility facilities operate properly. You will be instrumental in repairing, replacing and servicing electrical systems and equipment when. Your attention to detail, and clear understanding of electrical systems will play a pivotal part in the operational efficiency of DFW International Airport.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, motors, panels and circuits.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing motor control centers and control equipment up to 4160 volts AC.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit. Assist in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems such as: switch gears, motor controllers, electrical panels, CT cabinets, breakers, lighting and power supplies.
  • Remove and replace ballasts, transformers, capacitors, sockets, starters, fuses and lamps in lighting systems.
  • Assist with inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

What you need:

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an industrial/commercial electrician.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of an Apprentice Electrician License issued by the State of Texas or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Universal Refrigerant certification from an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved provider within one year of employment.
  • Ability to pass a color vision deficiency test and a medical physical examination.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Ability to periodically work on-call outside of normal operating hours including weekends and holidays.

What we desire:

  • Knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in maintenance of electro/mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of microcomputer-based control systems and environment energy equipment such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable in an industrial environment.
