Job Overview

As an Electronics Technician you will perform installations, tests, troubleshooting, repairs and replacements on DFW Airport’s electronic systems. We utilize various systems that you will be responsible for maintaining which include Traffic Signal System, Uninterruptable Power Supply System (UPS), Automated Access Control System and Airfield Temperature Sensors System.

What you will be doing:

  • Troubleshooting, installing, programming, monitoring, repairing and maintaining DFW Airport’s electronic systems.
  • Upgrading and modifying the electronic systems using a laptop computer and provided software.
  • Testing electronic circuits to locate defective system components using oscilloscopes, signal generators and multimeters.
  • Replacing defective components, wiring and adjusting electronic parts to specifications using hand tools, special equipment and soldering irons.
  • Assisting project managers in coordinating work performed by contractors on assigned systems.
  • Maintaining records of repairs, calibrations and tests.

What you need:

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in repair and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Formal training in general electronics.
  • Any equivalent combination or education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Must be able to pass a medical physical examination.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

What we desire:

  • Previous electronics maintenance experience in an airport environment.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical trades, with specific knowledge of 120VAC and 220VAC equipment and devices and/or the hazards and safety precautions associated with the area of assignment.
