Job Overview

The Electrical Supervisor evaluates, coordinates and participates in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment at one of the largest airports in the world. You will supervise and inspect the work of other electricians and conduct performance evaluations. As an Electrical Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining airfield lighting, security parking gates, high pole lighting and generators across the airport.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversee the installation, repair, and service of electrical systems and equipment on airport facilities such as taxiways, runways and other airfield areas, roadways, parking areas, illumination signs and structures, and traffic signal systems.
  • Oversee the location of ground faults, repair or replacement of damaged cables using various equipment and tools.
  • Use blueprints, technical manuals and test equipment to troubleshoot problems and make repairs.
  • Oversee the removal and replacement of ballasts, transformers, capacitors, sockets, starters, fuses and lamps.
  • Supervise the rebuild or replacement of electric security and parking gate components and traffic signals

What you need:

  • Possession of a Master Electrician license issued by the State of Texas.
  • Associate’s degree or formal training in electrical systems or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in airfield, industrial or commercial electrical systems or related field
  • Two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and computer-generated programs.

What we desire:

  • Possession of a valid Class B CDL driver's license.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advisory circulars governing the operations and maintenance of airfield lighting and associated equipment.
  • Ability to oversee a field crew of subordinate technicians and to inspect and evaluate work.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in inclement weather
  • Ability to work at various heights above ground, using ladders or power-lift equipment

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a color vision deficiency test
  • Ability to pass a medical physical examination.
  • Must have a good private driving record: (a) no more than two (2) convictions of moving violations in the last 36 months and (b) no DWI convictions in the last 60 months.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal
  • This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and to submit to drug and alcohol screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the DOT safety sensitive position.
  • This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport’s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
