DFW Airport does not impose an age limit, participate in state retirement systems, or follow civil service rules for promotion. From basic academy training to specialty training, all training, uniforms, and equipment you will need to be successful is paid for by DFW Airport.
Upon completion of basic academy and field training, all Police Officers and Firefighters are assigned to their respective Patrol or Emergency Operations duties.
They are eligible to compete for specialty assignments after 1-3 years and may participate in promotional processes after 1-3 years, depending on job function.
The Department of Public Safety is comprised of separate Police and Fire Service Departments.
As a Police Officer or Firefighter/EMT at DFW Airport, you will not be required to maintain inter-disciplinary certifications.
