Patrol
The Patrol Division is the backbone of every police department and responds to every initial call for police service. Patrol officers are trained to handle a wide variety of calls including disturbances, thefts, intoxication offenses, security breaches, assaultive offenses, and traffic enforcement.

Investigations
The Investigations Division is comprised of Detectives responsible for following up on offenses that occur at DFW Airport. They conduct investigations and work with the district attorney’s office to file cases, secure warrants, and apprehend suspects. The Investigations Division also includes our full-time recruiters and background investigators.

Special Operations
The Special Operations Division includes the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, the Motor Unit, the K9/EOD Unit, and Police Training. They are responsible for specialized responses to tactical situations including barricaded subjects, hostage situations, aircraft hijacking, dignitary protection, suspicious devices, and bomb threats. Motor Officers conduct advanced accident investigation and perform directed traffic enforcement.

Support Services
Support Services operate behind the scenes to ensure the entire Police Department runs smoothly and include Detention Officers, Evidence Technicians, and Records Personnel. They maintain custody of arrested persons, secure the evidentiary chain of custody, and maintain all records and police reports.

Specialty Units
Specialty Units perform specific functions to meet specific needs. These units include Hostage Negotiators, Crime Scene Technicians, Honor Guard, Drone Operators, and Federal Task Force Officers.

Eligibility
Age
21 years of age or meet requirements within 10 months of hire
Citizenship
Must be a US Citizen
Driver’s License
Valid and current Texas Class C driver’s license (or equivalent from another state)

Education/Experience

High School Diploma
At least ONE of the following:

- 30 college hours from a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) approved / accredited school, or
- 2 years continuous active duty military service with honorable discharge, or
- 2 years full time experience as a paid experience as a Police Officer, or
- current TCOLE license/certification

Must be able to read, write, and speak clearly in English
Shift requirements
Must be willing to work various shifts including 24-hour consecutive shifts to include nights, weekends & holidays
